For the first time ever, a giant panda breastfeeding her cub has been captured on video camera.
In the Changqing National Nature Reserve in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, a giant panda mother and her cub were seen climbing down from a tree on April 1, 2018.
The panda cub – approximately 2 years old – wanted a snack.
The panda mother sat on a hillside and breastfed her cub, in the first ever video footage of a giant panda breastfeeding.
There are over 366 pandas living in the Shaanxi province of China. The giant panda, an international symbol for wildlife conservation, was considered an endangered species until 2016. The species is still classified as vulnerable.
We love seeing baby pandas flourish in the wild. Nurse on, mama!
