Replacing valves regularly is a key part of keeping your breast pump working well. Valves lose elasticity over time and you can't always see it, so stick to the replacement schedule even if everything seems fine. If you notice warping or a drop in suction, replace straight away — don't wait for your next scheduled change. We recommend keeping spares on hand so you're never caught out.

Your cleaning and sterilizing frequency and method also affects how quickly parts wear. Frequent sterilizing (e.g. after every use) will shorten the life of your valves, so you may need to replace more often.
